On October 18, shortly after his birthday, we received the sad news of the death of the long -time mayor of Mistelbach, study council Ing. Christian Resch. Only 69 years old, he lost the fight against a serious illness. This tragedy meets the community hard, because Resch was not only an influential figure, but also a passionate local politician who was able to implement over 100 important projects during his tenure.
born on October 16, 1955 in Scheibbs, Christian Resch grew up in Wieselburg. After school, he switched to the higher agricultural Federal Institute for Francisco Josephinum. In 1976 he found his new center of life in Mistelbach, where he married his wife Annemarie the following year. The couple got three daughters: Katharina, Stephanie and Barbara. In his past few years, Resch has lived again in Wieselburg, the city of his childhood.

his professional career began Christian Resch in 1976 as a teacher at the Mistelbach Agricultural School. Over the years he rose to the director. Under his leadership, the technical school was modernized and now acts as a significant training and innovation center. In 2010, the title "Student Council" was awarded by the then governor due to his services. He also received the "silver chamber medal" for his outstanding work in rural education. Politically, he had a significant influence from the regional council of State Councilor Franz Blochberger from 1992 to 1997, especially in the area of agricultural policy concepts and preparing for the EU accession.

The political career of Resch began in 1989 when he became a member of the local council. Between 1990 and 1997 he was a city council for several areas. One of his most striking achievements in the cultural area was the redesign of the international puppet days and the organization of events with local artistic claim. From 1997 to 2010 he served as mayor of Mistelbach, whereby he launched numerous projects, including the new building of the kindergarten and the general renovation of the town hall.
The large number of his projects speaks for itself. Under his aegis, the “Mistelbach Center” train station were built, among other things, and the district heating supply for both public and private buildings was secured. His work not only promoted infrastructural improvements, but also the development of the city of AS a lively cultural location.
Christian Resch leaves a rich legacy that was also recognized by the coat of arms ring, which was awarded to him in 2011 by the community. "His love for art and his foresight made Mistelbach cosmopolitan and modern," said Mayor Erich Stubenvoll, who shows his predecessor Resch the highest honor. His influence will continue to be noticeable in many aspects of public life and culture in Mistelbach.
