PENNY in Aspang: Fresh variety and regional quality combined
At the end of November, a new PENNY supermarket opened its doors in Aspang and offers a variety of around 1,900 products for everyday needs on an area of almost 600 m². This market combines regionality, quality and sustainable concepts to meet customer demands.
Particularly noteworthy is the freshness and service of the new location. Fruit and vegetables are checked and replenished several times a day to always ensure the best quality. As the only discounter in the region, PENNY also employs qualified butchers who can advise customers if they have any questions and fulfill individual requests.
Quality and regionality in focus
The products of the own brand “Ich bin Österreich” source their meat from regional suppliers, where the pork, chicken and beef comes 100% from Austria and is slaughtered regionally. The company follows the “nose to tail” principle to minimize food waste. The branch manager Selver Kaya expressed her confidence: “My team and I will impress our customers with expert advice as well as an attractive private label and comprehensive brand range.”
In Aspang there are also more than 200 locally produced products to choose from. PENNY has also made a name for itself in the organic segment with “REAL ORGANIC!” established an extensive range of sustainably and regionally produced items. The baked goods mainly come from Austrian bakers and are freshly baked on site. For those who love a conscious diet, the vegan brand “Food For Future” also offers alternatives such as vegan cheese and cold cuts products.
PENNY follows the motto “Variety instead of sacrifice” and wants to show customers that they can get a wide selection of own brands and well-known brands at a fair price. Managing director Kai Pataky emphasizes: “We are proud that PENNY is bringing even more freshness and regional products to Aspang.”
Commitment to social projects and sustainability
As part of its social responsibility, PENNY cooperates with the Austrian Red Cross and supports people in difficult life situations through initiatives such as the PENNY Family Relief Fund. The company also sets clear priorities in the area of sustainability. PENNY is a member of the klima:aktiv pakt2020, which was launched by the Federal Ministry for Sustainability, and is committed to the careful use of resources and to reducing CO₂ emissions.
Another goal of PENNY is to reduce plastic. Since 2018, 127 tons of plastic have been saved in fruit and vegetable packaging. Together with Waldquelle Mineralwasser, the company launched the “Stöpselwald” initiative, in which over 1,700 trees have already been planted in Austria using collected beverage caps.
