Defeat for the HSV: Elversberg turns the game and beats Hamburg
Hamburger SV had to take a bitter defeat in an exciting game against SV Elversberg. Despite an early lead of 1-0 by Davie Selke, who scored the goal in the 6th minute, Hamburgers captured a 4-2 defeat. This was the second defeat of the defeat for the North Germans in the 2nd Bundesliga, which thus endangered their ambitions to take over the lead.
In a stadium in Spiesen-Elversberg, well-filled with 9,502 spectators, the Hamburg team showed some weaknesses. The hosts quickly weighed up after the deficit and turned the game through goals from Fisnik Asllani (41st and 53rd minute), Luca Schnellbacher (63.) and Robin Fellhauer (90.+6). After a hectic final phase, the Hamburgers not only had to accept the defeat, but also the red cards for Jonas Meffert and assistant coach Merlin Polzin, which also tightened the situation.
HSV trainer under pressure
The sports director of the HSV, Stefan Kuntz, was clearly disappointed after the game. Born in Neunkirchen, just a few kilometers from Elversberg, he was concerned about the performance of his team. He complained that the HSV did not embodied and commented on the basic virtues of football: "At Elversberg there was a team on the field, not with us." Kuntz hopes that this game serves as a timely "shot in front of the bug" to motivate the players for better performance.
coach Steffen Baumgart had to change the defense of the HSV because Sebastian Schonlau was missing due to a lock. Lucas Perrin gave his starting eleven debut, which the team did not bring the necessary stability. The hosts, who occurred confidently at the beginning, quickly got under pressure. A flank from Jean-Luc Dompé was dismissed by Elversberg's goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof directly in front of the feet of Selke, who had no trouble.
weak defensive services used on time
After the half -time break, Elversberg caught HSV ice cold. Asllani, who had previously equalized, gave his team 2-1 in the 53rd minute. Baumgart tried to pull the helm around with a three -time change, but he couldn't do it. Schnellbacher made the preliminary decision by placing 3: 1. Selke scored the connection goal before Fellhauer scored the result to 4: 2 in added time.
With this defeat, the HSV ends a series of six unbeaten games in the league and thus remains in the chasing field instead of attacking the competition at the top of the table. The upcoming training week will be decisive for coach Baumgart and his team to learn from these mistakes and to better prepare for the next challenges.
