Neunkirchen. The atmosphere was festive when the historical association City of Neunkirchen celebrated its 25th anniversary. Many citizens accepted the invitation in wonderful weather and filled the Stummsche riding hall to the last place. The chairwoman Marie-Luise Becker warmly welcomed the present, and the president of the association, Friedrich Decker, held an inspiring opening speech. He looked back on the past 25 years and expressed the desire that more young people will show interest in the history of Neunkirchen in the future.

According to the introductory words, congratulations and greeting from various guests of honor followed. Initially, Friedrich Denne, the chairman of the Association for Regional Studies Saar, followed by Sina Spies from the Interior and Environment Ministry and Frank Lemmes, the chairman of the Neunkirchen cultural association. These speeches offered a pleasant framework for the subsequent awards that were awarded special members and supporters of the association.

awards and honors

Brigitte Schubert was awarded the silver merit needle for her many years of work in family research and as the author of the first family book in Neunkirchen. Friedrich Denne also received an honor for his tireless contributions to the association. Interestingly, the bookseller Anke Birke was not able to personally receive her bronze badge due to health problems, but nevertheless occurred in the hearts of those present.

In addition, all members of the family research group who work on the local family book (OFB) Neunkirchen was handed over to a copy of the two -volume OFB. Ms. Schubert symbolically took over the books for the group and thus showed the cohesion and appreciation within the club.

insights into city history

A book table was waiting for the visitors and offered a selection of brochures about the city's history of Neunkirchen, including the calendar for 2025 and significant literature such as the street lexicon and the history of gas and water supply. The family researchers were ready to provide information from their digital OFB and to help with ancestral research. Their commitment showed that the historical association not only preserves history, but also actively contributes to passing this knowledge on to the next generation.

At the end of the solemn event, the historical association thanked everyone present with a small raffle. This gesture ensured that everyone could compete in a good mood. The jubilee festival was therefore not only a review of the past, but also an outlook on the future of the association and its important role in the community.
