New waste separation system in Neunkirchen: Yellow sack replaces green bins!
In the district of Neunkirchen, a fundamental changeover in waste management is imminent. At the turn of the year 2025, the proven system of green bin, which has been in use since 1986, will be abolished. Instead, the yellow sack comes into force, as both orf neunkirchen.gv.at report. From January 1, all households in Neunkirchen will be equipped with 13 yellow sacks that can be used for empty packaging. It should be noted that packaging made of glass and paper must be disposed of separately.
The changeover is due to a legal requirement that obliges the district to switch to the new system, even if it has been proven that the green bin offers a significantly higher recycling rate. The changes come into force immediately, which means that the citizens are already allowed to use the yellow sacks, while the green bin remains in residual waste. In addition, households can pick up free additional bags from the municipal office as required.
pick-up and separation system
The collection of the yellow sacks is free of charge and is carried out monthly by the FCC company. This change also affects multi -party houses where yellow containers are set up. The last pick -up of the green bin took place in December 2024. The remaining waste separation guidelines also find adjustments in 2025, such as an increase in the pick -up frequency for residual waste, which is then picked up 13 times a year.
For tightening the recycling measures, a deposit will also be introduced on one -way beverage packaging in order to increase the recycling rate. All closed plastic bottles and metal cans with a volume of 0.1 to 3 liters are affected. The legal changes aim to reduce the environmental impact and to improve recycling in Austria in the long term.
