New pastoral area in Merchweiler: a blessing for the community
Merchweiler. After a long phase of waiting of almost two years, important steps in the pastoral work of the Neunkirchen area were finally realized. Alexandra Schmitt, the economist in the management team, was able to welcome over 40 guests in the newly renovated office space of the pastoral area Neunkirchen in the parish hall Merchweiler. The meeting room was so well attended that it got quite tight - a sign of the great interest in the new premises.
In her welcome speech by the parish of the "Rosary Queen" from Merchweiler, Schmitt expressed great thanks, which made the financial resources available for the renovation. This development not only shows a physical move, but also progress in the organizational structure of the church.a blessing for the future
After the speeches were over, Dean Clemens Kiefer carried out the prayer of blessing over the new premises. He attached particular importance to the fact that although the rooms and structures in the church can change, the foundation of faith, Jesus Christ, remains unchanged. With this sessions, the community has a positive view of the future, which is of great importance for the members of the pastoral area of Neunkirchen.
After the blessing was granted, the guests were given the opportunity to visit the new premises. In a sociable environment, with a glass of sparkling wine, many stimulating conversations could be held, which served to network the pastor and the individual parishes.
In the new office, four pastoral employees now work together with two administrative employees. The management team consists of deacon Franz Josef Dobelmann, economist Alexandra Schmitt and Dean Clemens Kiefer. This new formation of the team is part of the central goal of the pastoral area of Neunkirchen to promote the pastoral organs structures and to strengthen the community of believers.
The diocese of Trier has been divided into 35 pastoral rooms since January 1, 2023. The pastoral area of Neunkirchen has around 114,000 inhabitants, of which around 50,000 Catholic faith are. This room includes a total of eight parishes or parish communities, and it includes the cities of Neunkirchen and Ottweiler as well as the municipalities of Illingen, Spiesen-Elversberg, Schiffweiler and Merchweiler. The networking of these pastoral care units should lead to a revival of faith throughout the area.
The circumstances related to the move and the renovation of the office rooms testify to active pastoral work and a strong commitment of the community. This positive development in the pastoral area of Neunkirchen gives rise to hope and shows that despite challenges such as the renovation of rooms, steps are taken. In addition, the need to adapt to current needs becomes clear in order to continue to form a sustainable community in the future.
