New green space in front of the district administration: a win for Neunkirchen!

Before the district administration in Neunkirchen, something exciting is happening: The previously gray and paved parking space is converted into a green area that not only shows optically but also ecologically a step forward. The project, which is currently in the construction phase, is intended to help improve the local small climate and at the same time enable bicycle drivers to use the traffic areas.

The heart of the project lies in the conversion of the parking space into a infiltrationable and partially green space. Specifically, this means that the rainwater is stored in the surface and the newly planted green areas. "The area currently almost exclusively paved should be redesigned in such a way that we can plant more green and more trees," explains district chief Alexandra Grabner-Fritz. This is particularly important because the south side of the district administration is often exposed to strong heat effects.

sustainable redesign for a better future

The project not only brings with it a redesign of the parking lot, but also an optical refreshing of the facade of the district administration. In this context, a vertical greening is attached on the south side of the building. On the one hand, this is said to work as sun protection, and on the other hand the interiors cool. The combination of a green outdoor view and improved climatic conditions is a central point of the project.

The redesign is not limited to the site of the district administration. There will also be changes in the public street area to improve the green spaces. The new measures aim to make the traffic area more accessible for cyclists, which is an important achievement for mobility in Neunkirchen.

The residents and visitors to the district administration are already called on to pay attention to the corresponding signage and barriers during the construction work. These precautionary measures are necessary so as not to endanger the construction process through unnecessary disorders.

In cooperation with the municipality of Neunkirchen, this innovative project is realized, which will not only be a nice sight for the citizens, but should also make an active contribution to saving rainwater and a better microclimate in the region. Overall, this is a step in the right direction for a greener and more sustainable urban development.
