Federal Gymnasium Neunkirchen: New Ambassador School of the EU Parliament
The Federal Gymnasium and Federal Real Gymnasium Neunkirchen recently achieved a significant success by appointing the European Parliament ambassador school. This award was handed over to a solemn event on October 18, 2024 in the House of the European Union in Vienna, in which a total of 20 Austrian schools were awarded.
The honor was carried out by the MEP Hannes Heide, who underlined the relevance of this award. The aim of the program is to strengthen awareness of European identity, the European Parliament and the values of democracy in youth. An elementary aspect is the networking between the students: inside and other schools in Europe.
a strong network of ambassador schools
The newly appointed ambassador schools are now part of a far -reaching network of over 2000 schools across Europe that maintain close cooperation with the European Parliament. These schools are known for their dedicated teaching methods that offer teachers further training opportunities, as well as for school activities that focus on European integration.
Hannes Heide also spoke about the crucial role of youth for the future of the European Union. "Young people in particular are convinced of the European project. The acceptance of the European Union is particularly high among young people," he said. According to Heide, ambassador schools play an important role in arousing interest in Europe and promoting a positive attitude to the EU. They help to counteract the widespread skepticism towards the EU and offer young people the opportunity to actively participate in the design of European democracy.
from the BG/BRG Neunkirchen, in addition to the junior ambassadors Arda Arican, Leo Linsmayer and Maximilian Schatzer, also attended senior ambassador Mag.
