Future projects in the Melk district: health, therapy and living space in focus

In the Melk district, several exciting projects are about to complete, which will significantly improve the life of the population and the infrastructure. Starting with health centers to residential buildings to leisure opportunities, the region is shown by its innovative side. One of the outstanding projects is the Melk health center, also known as "GBZ 2.0".

This center will open its doors in the summer of 2025 and includes an area of an additional 3,000 square meters. This realizes new specialist practices and office space, which are intended to optimize medical care on site. Mayor Patrick Strobl commented that this project will make a significant contribution to ensuring high -quality health care.

progress in Ybbs

A new therapy center will be built in the neighboring town of Ybbs, which should be finished by the end of 2026. This expansion will offer 64 single rooms and additional therapy rooms for social psychiatry, which should particularly benefit the residents. The administrative director and home manager Franz Brandstetter emphasized the essential importance of single rooms in order to offer residents with retreat. Ybbs' Mayor Ulrike Schachner also supported the project because it continues a long tradition in the city.

In addition, the residential project "Active in the center" will be built in YBBS until December 2025. Here 27 sustainable living spaces are to be realized that use environmentally friendly technologies such as photovoltaic systems. This is an important step for sustainable living space, says the mayor.

The development at Melker Hafen

Another highlight is the mole Melk on the harbor spitz, which is expected to open at the end of November 2024. This project should act as a new attraction for locals and tourists. Mayor Strobl emphasizes that something great has grown here through collaboration and commitment. Modern architecture and the location directly on the Danube will increase the attractiveness of the region.

Together with the mole, a campsite that has established itself in recent years will also contribute to the attractiveness of the city. With the commissioning of the DDSG ticketing and a camping shop, the 2025 season is additionally enriched.

water tank and transport infrastructure

Melk has also invested in the water supply. The new elevator on the Wachberg, which holds 3,000 cubic meters of water, will help ensure the supply of drinking and extinguishing water in the long run. The project cost 3.3 million euros and integrated harmoniously into the landscape.

In addition, the road construction concept in the Kronbichl area was completely revised. New water pipes, district heating systems and a light wave conductor network were installed here. These modern infrastructures are also supplemented by environmentally friendly street lighting.

further developments in the district

A health center was recently opened in Dunkelsteinerwald, which comprises two ordinations and a rescue center and provides four subsidized residential units for young people. Münichreith, on the other hand, is planning an expansion of the fire station, which begins in spring 2025 to create better conditions for the emergency services and to be better prepared for disasters, as the Mayor Jürgen Fellnhofer emphasizes.

These large number of projects show impressively that active measures are taken to improve the quality of life in the Melk district.
