Heavy rear -end collision on A1 near Loosdorf: injured and traffic chaos

In the early morning hours of November 25, a serious rear -end collision occurred on the A1 near Loosdorf in the Melk district, which resulted in several injuries. At 2 a.m., dramatic scenes started to move when two vehicles collided with each other, which required an immediate reaction from the emergency services. The accident also led to considerable traffic disruptions because the highway had to be closed for several hours.

The incident required the use of a emergency helicopter and a variety of rescue teams that hurried to the scene of the accident. The complex situation quickly revealed itself as serious because two people were trapped in the first vehicle. Firefighters were used and used a hydraulic rescue set to be able to free the injured. Both occupants had suffered the most serious injuries and were immediately taken to the hospital.

Intensive rescue measures and blocking of the motorway

The rescue workers from the Red Cross St. Pölten were quickly on site and performed first aid measures. While one person was flown to a hospital with the emergency helicopter, the other bound to ground was transported to a nearby medical center. In the second vehicle involved, three other people were affected, one of whom was also seriously injured. They too were brought to the surrounding clinics immediately.

The landing of the emergency helicopter led to a full closure of the A1, which resulted in a kilometer -long backlog. Drivers who were near the accident had to wait a long time while the rescue operations took place. After the injuries were cared for and the accident site was cleaned, ASFINAG was finally able to release the motorway for traffic again.

In addition to the rescue measures, the fire brigades were also active. After the medical emergency supplies, they took over the rescue of the vehicles in order to clear the accident site as quickly as possible and to restore the flow of traffic. This was necessary to ensure the assessment of the situation and to counteract further traffic jams.
