Giant rush and marriage proposals: an unforgettable festival in Langenlois!

The big pumpkin cradle event last Sunday attracted many curious visitors who wanted to admire the impressive dimensions of the “Atlantic Giants” and other pumpkin species. With an incredible weight of 761.9 kg, Christoph Schieder from Bad Blumau (Styria) triumphed in the main category. His pumpkin caused great enthusiasm among those present.

Another remarkable moment on this day was the spontaneous auction of Friedrich Melka, who exhibited the second -placed pumpkin. The proceeds of impressive 3,100.00 euros are used to support flood victims in the municipality of Langenlois. The generous donations came from various supporters, including a car dealership and the Sparkasse Langenlois as well as the pumpkin breeder community.

The happy winners of the different categories received prices that ranged from cash premiums to vouchers for the Kittenberger @Chalets. Each placed participant was also awarded a sustainable climate tree from the in -house tree nursery, which serves as a souvenir of this special event. A very special highlight of the day was the marriage proposal by Manfred Grabmayer to his long -time partner Traudi. Surrounded by the festive atmosphere in the pumpkin arena, after 22 years of relationship, he asked her the question of all questions, and Traudi beamed with joy when she answered with a convinced yes. Perhaps your wedding will take place in the romantic ambience of the Kittenberg adventure gardens.

This event was not only a festive celebration of the pumpkin breeding, but also a nice example of community sense and support in difficult times, while personal life events were celebrated at the same time.
