a new way for the Göttweig Abbey
Patrick Schöder, born in 1983 in Durban, South Africa, came to Austria in his childhood. His career led him to the St. Pölten priest seminar, and since joining the Göttweig Benedictine Abbey in 2006, he took on a variety of tasks. Among other things, he was chaplain in various parishes, took over the pastoral care in Krems and was largely involved in the foundation of the first bilingual Catholic school in Lower Austria. The Göttweig Abbey, which is enthroned on a hill with an impressive architecture, is not only a spiritual center, but also a place of learning and culture, with a rich history and important collections, as in the kathpress is reported .
The monks of the Göttweig Abbey today have a total of 34 members and work in around 30 parishes. With his extensive experience in pastoral care and schooling, Abbot Schöder will play a central role in the continuation of the mission's mission. Göttweig not only stands for religious values, but also for an innovative educational component that is to come to the fore more. With its historical roots, such as the restoration after the fire in 1718, the Göttweig Abbey is a jewel of baroque architecture and a symbol for the preservation of the Benedictine tradition.
