Fire brigade Krems celebrates the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the armory
In the Voitsberg district of Voitsberg, an important project for the volunteer fire brigade (FF) started on Saturday: the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation and expansion of the armory. With an investment volume of 1.7 million euros, not only the sanitary and kitchen area is enlarged, also a new vehicle hall with washing area, an additional garage and a hose tower are built, which is equipped with a photovoltaic system.
The FF Krems, who currently has 60 active members and recorded an increase in female firefighters, initiated this conversion from the need. HBI Thomas Pagger and Mayor Bernd Ouprian welcomed numerous guests to the ceremonial ceremony, including deputy state fire brigade commander Christian Leitgeb and the Voitsberg city office director Gernot Thürschweller.
ambitious schedule for completion
The ambitious schedule stipulates that the construction work will be completed by the beginning of September 2025. A two -day inauguration festival is planned on September 27 and 28, 2025. "Not only the number of members grows, but also the technical requirements for the fire brigades," said Mayor Osprian. He referred to the recent heavy rain events that have once again illustrated the relevance and support of fire brigades.
Christian Leitgeb described the project as a "starting shot for the future". During the event, Günther Brittersklieber, who tirelessly campaigned for the renovation, was also recognized. HBI Pagger symbolically presented him with a building supervisory hat and a T-shirt as an award for his efforts.
The comprehensive renovation of the armory combines functionality and sustainability, and the installation of a photovoltaic system will help reduce operating costs. These measures are not only important for the current generation of firefighters, but also for future members who can be prepared even better for their challenges with the extended institutions. The upcoming construction work is therefore a significant progress in the development of the Krems volunteer fire brigade, which wants to continuously improve its service on and for the community.
