Kindergarten expansion in Wiesmath completed - family state council praises important measure

Last weekend the ceremonial opening of the converted and grown kindergarten took place in the market town of Wiesmath. This measure is an important step as part of the care offensive for families in the region. The need for a fourth kindergarten group was found in the course of the blue and yellow initiative. In order to cover this need, a new movement space was built, while the fourth group was housed in the old movement space. In addition, afternoon care for the children of the nearby elementary school was set up in another kindergarten group. The kindergarten company takes place in this group in the morning, while afternoon care is offered from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

Family Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister praised the market town and thanked Mayor Erich Rasner and his team for their commitment in the expansion of childcare. The municipality's investment in childcare is also supported by the state of Lower Austria, which provides interest promotion of over 230,000 euros. Overall, the state of Lower Austria will provide additional 750 million euros for the expansion of childcare by 2027 as part of the blue-yellow care offensive.

The success of the care offensive can also be seen in the current monitoring report of the statistics Austria on elementary education 2023/24. In Lower Austria, the visiting quota of the under-3 year olds is 36.3% above the Austrian average of 34.9% and for the first time above the Barcelona target of 33%. Lower Austria also exceeds the Barcelona goal of 96% for the 3-5-year-olds and leads the federal state ranking with a quota of 98.3%. The high care rates for the individual age groups, especially for 2, 3 and 4 year olds, are particularly remarkable.

Family Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister emphasized that these numbers reflect the efforts of the state of Lower Austria and its communities for an extensive network of childcare facilities throughout the country. There have been 250 new groups nationwide since September, a total of around 615 other groups are planned by 2027.
