New shine for the Kamptalbahn: barrier -free trains for everyone!

A great step forward for rail travelers in Lower Austria: since December 17, 2024, the Kamptalbahn has been in operation again after extensive construction work. The route had been closed since the beginning of September to expand the Gobelsburg stop in Langenlois in Langenlois and to lay new tracks between Horn and Mold. Despite the challenges of flooding in the Campregion, this happened, as the ÖBB reports. The modernizations should primarily offer improved comfort -reduced people, travelers with strollers or bicycles.

First barrier -free trains in use

A special highlight: from now on, barrier -free trains are now running on the 135 -year -old route. Some of these new trains replace older models and offer more seating and standing rooms as well as additional capacities for bicycles. From 2028, the Kamptalbahn will be completely switched to barrier-free battery trains. A new lock is planned for further modernization work in autumn 2025 from September 1st to December 13th, during which a replacement of rails is set up between Langenlois and Sigmundsherberg.

The barrier -free conversion of the Rosenburg and Kamegg stop as well as the technical securing of further railway crossings is also planned. The ÖBB emphasizes that all work is on schedule and thus ensure a smooth process for the passengers, while new security standards are also being developed.
