Mario Konrad: Successful coaching premiere in Pulkautal
Mario Konrad, a former professional footballer, shows impressive performances in his role as head coach at ASV Asparn. The 41-year-old is currently leading the Pulkautal 2nd Class table and scored his first goal of the season on Friday. These successes mark an exciting start to his coaching career.
Konrad, who began his football journey around 35 years ago at SV Leobendorf, made it to the top via SW Bregenz. He looks back particularly proudly on his time in Bregenz. “We had a great time, had a really good team,” he said about his memories of the club, where he played with well-known players like Axel Lawaree and Walter Kogler. The successes from this phase are formative for him.
Success with SV Horn and a return to old roots
From 2011 to 2012 Konrad was active at SV Horn. There he became regional league champion and scored three goals in the relegation games against Wattens. This was crucial for promotion to the 2nd league. “I would have liked to stay, I felt comfortable too,” he reports about his time in Horn, whereas he then joined FC Liefering.
In 2019, Konrad returned to the Stadliga again, this time to the Vienna club, where he stayed until 2022 and, among other things, won the championship title. His connection to Vienna is particularly strong: “It has become a club of the heart,” said the coach. The friendly people and the successful course of his career there have shaped the relationship with this club.
Exciting games are coming up
For Konrad himself there is a supplementary game scheduled for Grabern on Tuesday and a match at second-placed Hanfthal on Saturday. The coming games could be crucial to staying at the top of football operations.
