In the Altenburger Abbey, a festive weekend in Advent will be held next weekend, which takes visitors to the contemplative time of the year. After a five -year break, the Altenburg Advent market is back and promises a wonderful mix of regional craftsmanship, music and culinary delights.

The Altenburg Abbey, which has a long and venerable story of over 880 years, opens its doors for this special event, which will take place on Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th. The festivities start on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. The gates are open on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Visitors can look forward to a varied program. On Saturday the afternoon begins with Christmas concerts of the W.A. Mozart Music School Horn at 2:00 p.m. in the collegiate church. In addition, families can use a Christmas photo box.

A highlight of the day is the Advent singing of the Altenburg singing boys at 4:00 p.m. in the collegiate church, followed by a live hill with Stefan at 5:00 p.m. in the Kaiserhof. The program ends with the tower bubbles at 8:00 p.m., which ensures a magical atmosphere.

Sunday offers a similar program, starting with another children's program in the Kaiserhof. At 4:00 p.m., the Altenburg singing boys can be heard again before the tower bubbles at 6:00 p.m. form this festive weekend.
