Herbert Leeb takes stock: 20 years mayor in Grabern
After almost two decades as mayor of the market town of Grabern, Herbert Leeb, a member of the ÖVP, Announced, no longer ran for the upcoming municipal elections. The determined politician who came into office in 2005 has experienced many changes and challenges since then. He is particularly proud that he is considered the long -term mayor in the district, even if he is not the oldest.
Leeb looks back on a long career and remembers his first day in office. "I am not the oldest mayor yet, but the most long -service in the district," he said in a conversation with the NÖN. When he took office, other mayors were active in the area, including Herbert Goldinger in Mailberg, who died surprisingly in 2023, and Manfred Nigl in Retzbach, who handed over his office in August this year.
personal reflections
The farewell is particularly difficult. Many memories and experiences from his tenure have been accompanying him to this day. In the almost 20 years there were numerous developments in Grabern who shaped his actions. Although he now begins a new phase of life, Leeb feels the appreciation that the community has shown.
"The biggest challenge was to keep the community together in a constantly changing world," said Leeb. The past few years in particular have shown him how important it is to respond to local issues and at the same time take global trends into account. When asked about his successor, Leeb has clear ideas: his successor to the wish is the current mayor Petra-Eva Grünis.
As Leeb puts it, the journey as a mayor was not always easy, but it was definitely worthwhile. The people in Grabern gave him a lot, and he always felt committed to doing the best for the community. "It was an exciting time and I am grateful for the support I received," he added.
The next phase of his life will offer him the opportunity to break new ground while he remains an active part of the community. More about the background and future plans LeEbs are more in a recent article on www.noen.at read.
