Labor market in the district: decline in unemployment despite the annual comparison
In the Hollabrunn district, the situation on the job market has developed pleasantly at the end of September 2023. After a decline in unemployment compared to August, 1,017 people are currently looking for a job, which is the lowest value of the current year. However, this number remains by 41 people or 4.2 percent higher compared to September 2022.
The increasing number of unemployed reflects a general tendency that is also noticeable throughout Lower Austria. Unemployment has increased by 7.8 percent in the year, so that 40,612 people in the country are now without employment.
Positive signal for generation 50+
The development among over 50s is particularly remarkable. Unemployment has dropped by 4.7 percent in this age segment. Currently, 343 people in this age group are looking for a job. There is also a positive change among the young unemployed up to 25 years. Here the number of unemployed has dropped to 121, which corresponds to a decline of 10.4 percent. The combination of advice, mediation and targeted qualification of the AMS has proven to be particularly effective in this area.
qualification measures and support
In order to meet the increasing demand for qualified workers, the AMS has expanded its support offers. At the end of the month, 298 people, including 185 women and 113 men, were in training and further education, which corresponds to an increase of 14.7 percent compared to the previous year. This also includes a variety of qualification programs that are intended to ensure that job seekers have the necessary qualifications in order to cope with the requirements of the labor market.
A current example of the effectiveness of these measures is the decision of 33 job seekers from the district to start a specialist training in the nursing sector and thus take the way back into the professional world. According to Peter Kirchner, the head of the AMS office, these participants have been at school again since the beginning of September.
The developments in the Hollabrunner labor market are an expression of efforts to better work integration and adaptation to the current economic conditions. The AMS continues to focus on extensive training and advisory services to close the former gap between supply and demand in the labor market.
