Farewell to Willibald Schwarzinger: A life for the SPÖ in Retz
In a moving farewell message, the SPÖ district organization Hollabrunn mourns the agricultural organization of its loyal comrades Willibald Schwarzinger from Retz. Schwarzinger, who gave loyalty to the Social Democratic Party for more than 64 years, died recently. From 1972 to 1987 he worked in Retz and also worked in the municipal council from 1975 to 1988, serving as a city council for three years. As a native of Rosenburg, he was particularly committed to the concerns of his second home Retz, where he also worked in the district committee of the SPÖ. His commitment to Volkshilfe and his role as honorary district chairman illustrate his tireless striving to help others. He was the sponsor of several awards, including the Victor Adler Plaque and the silver honorary sign of the Lower Austria Blasmusikverband, and was awarded the city of Retz's ring of honor, as Meinzirk.at reported.
The city of Retz, in which he worked, is located in the northwestern Weinviertel and comprises an area of 45.02 square kilometers. The region is known for its weather extreme and from 2004 to 2009 was the least rainfall in Austria, as can be found on Wikipedia. Historically speaking, numerous finds show that the area was already populated in the Neolithic. Particularly noteworthy are the multi -storey basement systems that have been created by the wine trade and make the city a popular destination for visitors. Like the Dominican monastery and the founding of the city by Rudolf von Habsburg, the historical importance and the cultural depth of Retz testify. Many people also attract numerous sights such as the Museum Retz and the popular Advent market tradition.
The grief for Willibald Schwarzinger not only underlines the loss of a committed politician, but also the attachment of the city of Retz about its roots and history.
