35 years of Volkshilfe Retz: A festival of humanity and care
In Retz, the Volkshilfe celebrated its impressive 35th anniversary. Mayor Stefan Lang expressed his recognition for the outstanding work of the organization, which is devoted to social support and care. Numerous important personalities, including the President of the Volkshilfe Lower Austria, Ewald Sacher, and city councilor Beatrix Vyhnalek, took part in the special finding.
The event was opened by Herta Poisinger, the district chairman, who gave an overview of the services offered. For 35 years, Volkshilfe in the Retz social center has been ensuring that people receive the necessary care after a hospital stay - all year round and every day of the week. In her words of thanks, City Councilor Vyhnalek pointed out the challenges associated with the care of people in need of care.

President Sacher remembered the beginning of Volkshilfe when a "wave of humanity" was created in the country 35 years ago. It started with home aids that ultimately led to the establishment of social stations. Ingrid Eber, the former honorary chairman and co -founder of the Retz local group, was also significantly involved in this process. Important political actors, like the then state councilor Traude Votruba, played a central role in the formation of this supportive network.
In Lower Austria, Volkshilfe does over one million working hours annually. Even during the challenging times of COVID-19 pandemic, the care of all patients was maintained inside, which is due to the commitment and tireless work of the staff.
In addition to geriatric care, Volkshilfe is also active in childcare today and looks after around 4,000 institutions in Lower Austria. These range from the care of small children to afternoon care for students: inside.
Thanks to the spectacular event and the offer offered, the appreciation for the social commitment of Volkshilfe became clear. Mayor Lang emphasized how important the work is and how much they have the lives of many citizens: influenced inside. "It is not an easy job, this activity requires a high calling," he added.
The history of Volkshilfe in Retz is a remarkable example of merger and solidarity in society. In modern times, the organization shows that social responsibility and commitment to the common good are still of great importance, and looks optimistically into the future to further expand and improve their services.
