Half an hour on the Mariazellerbahn is expanded: more trains and flexibility for commuters and students

The half -hourly cycle on the Mariazellerbahn will be expanded from December 15th. This important innovation in public transport in the Pielachtal enables passengers to use the narrow -gauge railway between St. Pölten Central Station and Kirchberg an der Pielach in the afternoon in the shorter clock. This creates 2,500 additional trains and 85,000 additional train kilometers for the region every year.

The previous trips every half hour took place in the morning and in the morning. With the expansion, there is now a continuous half -hourly start in the afternoon. This is particularly important for commuters and pupils, since they have an improved offer. State Council of Transport and LH deputy Udo Landbauer emphasizes that this is a milestone and an essential step to upgrade public transport in the Pielachtal.

In addition to the improvements on working days, there will also be new additional trains on weekends. This is how an additional train runs from Mariazell to St. Pölten from 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from May to October and during the Advent season. This creates hourly connections between the two places. In addition, there will be an express train from St. Pölten to Mariazell at 8:05 a.m., which for the first time offers a travel time of less than two hours. These new connections open up more flexibility.

The expansion of the half -hourly cycle on the Mariazellerbahn is a significant step to improve public transport in the region and to meet the needs of passengers.
