New snow ensures chaos on Lower Austria's streets!

On Tuesday, December 10th, the traffic in Lower Austria is challenging through new snow. The streets are mostly mushy and salt wet, whereby there are also snow -covered lanes in higher areas and exposed areas. According to the Lower Austria road service, the necessary clearing and litter operations are already in full swing to ensure security on the streets. While according to the predictions, up to five centimeters of snow have fallen in the Waldviertel, the industrial district even reports up to ten centimeters. In the Mostviertel it is up to eight centimeters, but only two centimeters in the Weinviertel, such as meindezirk.at reported.

snow chain obligation on several streets

Especially for heavy vehicles from 3.5 tons, chain obligation applies to seven road sections. These include the B 20 via Annaberg, B 21 via the Gscheid and the B 23 over the Lahnsattel. For trucks over 7.5 tons, a chain obligation on the L 5226 between Plankenstein and Weißenbach was also introduced. On the B 21 and B 23, there is also a driving ban for saddle vehicles. The visibility is severely restricted in many places by floor fog, especially in the regions of Atzenbrugg, Haag, Lilienfeld, Krems and Tulln, where the visibility is sometimes only between 30 and 100 meters, such as Oots.at communicated.

The temperatures that fluctuate between -3 degrees in Gloggnitz and +6 degrees in Gänserndorf also contribute to the difficult driving conditions. Motorists have to adjust to winter conditions and restricted views, while the clearing services do everything they can to keep the streets passable.
