Rising of SC EnderSpeigen: Captain Schillinger leads to success

The football world of Obersiebenbrunn experienced a surprising turn this season. Hardly anyone would have thought before the start that SK has held the lead after seven rounds, while SC Obersiebenbrunn only follows a few points behind it in second place. A central figure in this race for the top position is Patrick Schillinger, the newly baked captain of the team.

Schillinger, who is not only known for his leadership qualities, but also shines as an active player, was elected to the player of the 2023/24 season. "We had a little joke internally. The player who is elected to the player of the season has to deposit into the player fund. This ensures that we all do our best so that one of us gains," Schillinger smiles at the solemn circumstances of the election.

The new captain and his career

With pride, the 28-year-old has been wearing the captain's band since the beginning of the season and explained: "It means a lot to me. I lead the team together with Daniel Rauschitz, who has returned after his injury." Schillinger is a veteran of the association and, with a two -year interruption, has not considered any other team since 2003. "There were offers from other clubs, such as Margraphneusiedl, but I immediately canceled. The ambition to play higher is no longer there, I will end my career here."

The performance of the team is remarkable, especially in comparison to last season, in which you only took tenth place. Schillinger was optimistic: "Last year we clearly did not meet the expectations. It was clear that we had to achieve more this season. With new players and a clear style of playing, the goals are higher. People expect that we will be among the top three or five, perhaps even around the championship."

This positive trend is funded under the young coach Rudolf Kolar, who relies on a playful concept. The captain emphasizes that the harmonious team structure and the playing player keep him in the club: "Cooperation with the coach is great, that's also a reason why I stay here."

Personally, the season for Schillinger has been extremely successful: During this season, the captain has already scored seven goals, including two in a recent game against Gänserndorf. Interestingly, he is currently taking a position as a striker who is not entirely unknown: "I have already played a lot of positions in my career, like six, right -back and now striker. It's nice to see that it works."
