Deployment of the pioneers in the Pielachtal: The commitment of the Melk pioneers and their traditional history

The pioneers of the Melker Battalion continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of the slopes in the Pielachtal. In Loosdorf in particular, the soldiers of the pioneer combat support company are challenged and make an indispensable contribution.

One of the main tasks is to remove debris and debris. Particular attention is paid to removing heavily clogged areas in the area of the Pielach Bridge in Albrechtsberg. For this purpose, heavy equipment such as the “Greif” recovery vehicle and a 20-ton slewing ring excavator are used. The pioneers are also present with heavy equipment in Böheimkirchen, Hadersdorf and Schönberg am Kamp.

The Pioneer Battalion 3, also known as the “Melk Pioneers”, can look back on a long and traditional history in the Danube region. With over 110 years of experience, the battalion is one of the strongest and most successful units in the Austrian Armed Forces.

The commitment and work of the pioneers is of great importance as they actively contribute to the security and stability of the region. Their continued presence and readiness demonstrate the commitment and professionalism of the military unit.
