Niederösterreich, Österreich - On December 5th, volunteering in Lower Austria is celebrated and honored. Around 800,000 committed people voluntarily work in various areas and contribute significantly to social cohesion. However, their commitment is not only recognized on the day of volunteering, but also by new initiatives that are intended to strengthen volunteering in the long term. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) emphasized: "The day of volunteering is a great way to say thank you to the many volunteers." Especially during the devastating flood of the century, it was clear how important the selfless use of the volunteers was for those affected.
Diverse support for volunteers
More than 100,000 people are committed to cultural and education solely. They do valuable work that shapes social life sustainably. In order to support these volunteers, the Lower Austria volunteer center was launched. Here, interested parties receive comprehensive consultations and information about voluntary commitment. In the year, the center carries out more than 1,000 consultations to clarify legal and tax issues, whereby a volunteer lawyer is also at the side, as Lower Austrian care centers
An outstanding offer is the free Lower Austria volunteer insurance, which guarantees comprehensive protection for all volunteers, regardless of whether they are active in formal organizations or informal. The volunteer center also offers workshops and information events that are intended to emphasize the advantages of the volunteer and win new members. The volunteer exchange plays an important role in combining interested parties with organizations. The aim is to inspire even more people for voluntary commitment.
The voluntary activities are diverse and range from simple conversations with residents in care facilities to excursions and social activities. In the Lower Austria care and care centers, professional volunteer teams are happy about new members. Volunteers can not only give their time here, but also use valuable further training courses and insurance. The use of volunteers not only offers support for people in need, but also a fulfilling opportunity to make new friendships.
