New parking guidance system in Amstetten: faster to the free space
In Amstetten, a new traffic and parking guidance system is put into operation, which is intended to significantly improve the search for parking space for drivers. The innovative system, whose start of operation is planned for early December 2024, promises to reduce unnecessary trips and to facilitate the search for free space. A look at the current traffic situation shows that there are around 1,550 parking spaces near the main square, which are often available even at peak times. Nevertheless, fewer local drivers were particularly difficult to find these areas.
"The new traffic and parking guidance system makes the parking space search faster and easier. Unnecessary paths are minimized," said Vice Mayor Markus Brandstetter and thus emphasized the advantages of the new measure.
Details on the new control system
The closer drivers get to the city center and the available parking spaces, the more precise the information becomes. Special boards with LED displays show the current status of free parking spaces in real time. In addition, the previous parking and riding system will be restructured in order to improve the accessibility to the cultural and leisure activities, such as the Johann-Pölz-Halle and the Stadtbad.
In addition, it is important to know that some parking spaces are renamed. The renams are as follows:
- parking lot district administration - new: Center 1
- parking lot Wüstenrotplatz - new: Center 2
- Parkplatz Altenzeile - NEW: Center 3
- parking lot Mantzos - NEW: Graben 2
- Parkplatz Graben - NEW: Graben 1
- underground car park town hall: remains unchanged
The transition to a system with license plate recognition is implemented for the parking spaces that are used, which will simplify the handling for drivers. This could lead to an important relief for traffic in the city and significantly improve the general parking situation.
