Naturwiesen for everyone: Training in Euratsfeld brings a breath of fresh air

The market town of Euratsfeld actively relies on the protection and promotion of biodiversity by natural flower meadows. The municipality has already gained initial positive experiences with the rectory meadow, which is supervised by the association "Beautiful Euratsfeld". In order to pass on the knowledge gained, a training course took place in cooperation with "Nature in the Garden".

At this event, 20 Bauhof employees from all over Lower Austria took part to find out about the system and care of natural meadows. In the practical part of the training, the participants learned the right approach to sowing a natural meadow. They prepared the ground on a 50 square meter strip next to Brunnenstrasse and sowed the special seed. It was particularly important to ensure how the floors are optimally prepared in order to promote the growth of the flower meadows. The training enabled the building yard employees to gain experience on site and learn techniques that they can apply in their communities.

In addition, there were indications of how continuous care of the meadows can be guaranteed so that the natural flower meadows are not only aesthetically appealing, but also offer an important habitat for many types of insect.
