Film evening in Amstetten: 'The Quiet Girl' - a touching story

Amstetten. A special film screening is on the program of the Perspective Cinema Association, which in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Amstetten shows an impressive drama. On Wednesday, December 11th, Colm Bairéad's film "The Quiet Girl" will be presented in the town hall in Amstetten. The performances begin at 4 p.m. in the German version and at 7.30 p.m. the film in the English original is shown with German subtitles.

The history of the film takes place in the rural Ireland of 1981. The protagonist is nine -year -old Cáit, played by Catherine Clinch. Cáit lives with her three sisters and a pregnant mother in modest conditions. In the tense atmosphere of her parents' house, she learned to hold back and not to attract attention, which means that she often stays in silence.

an unexpected stay

When Cáit is to be sent to relatives during a summer, it is unclear about the reasons and the duration of this measure. Her father takes her to a childless couple who lives in a small coastal city in southern Ireland. There she receives a completely different world: a sunny, spacious house, a large courtyard and a friendly environment with animals. Here Eibhlin lives, the farmer who lovingly takes care of Cáit and offers her security.

The relationship between Cáit and the man in the house, Seán, begins rather cool. There are fears that he could ignore them in a similar way to her own father. But over time, a deeper connection develops. Seán begins to support Cáit in working with the animals and finally opens up to the vulnerable child. These new experiences lead to Cáit blooming and discovering a new life.

"The Quiet Girl" promises a moving story about the search for love and understanding in a challenging environment. The film screening offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in a deeply touching story that is shaped by interpersonal relationships and childhood.
