New surf wave on Lake Wörthersee: Pump Foil Floß inspires water sports enthusiasts!

Wahliss Wiese, 9210 Pörtschach, Österreich - The Wörthersee has experienced a real water sports hype in the past few weeks. From July 19 to August 10, 2025, a large event took place at the Wiese election in Pörtschach, which attracted around 1,000 surfers and around 400 water sports enthusiasts from ten regional associations. Despite rainy days, the participation was high. The aim of this initiative was to establish a sustainable surf infrastructure on Lake Wörthersee, without affecting the ecological balance of the lake. A new dimension of water sports was opened with a temporary flowrider system as a pilot project, as [ots] (https://www.ots.at/presseaus-sung/ots_20250811_ots0076/woerssee- Wassersport-Surfwelle- Pump-Foil-Foss--Ant-Start) reports.

A highlight of the event was the first electric pump Foil Floß, which was presented in Krumpendorf. The 100 % electrically operated system uses energy from a photovoltaic system and offers a quiet training environment without waves or noise. The innovative "Dockstart" enables direct introduction to the water, which makes the pump party easier for all participants. Pumpoy itself is a new type of water, in which a board slides through the water surface through pumping movements. This raft offers various starting heights and storage options for the equipment of the participating clubs and enables mobile training at different spots.

Pump Foil Club Austria and courses

The Wörthersee Rosental Tourismus and the Pump Foil Club Austria provide courses every day that can be booked on the website www.pumpfoil.at or by phone. The offer not only includes current Pumpfoil courses and workshops, but also events and challenges that help the members to test and improve their skills. The target group ranges from beginners to advanced water sports enthusiasts. The club's company structure is characterized by a committed community that invites all age and experience levels to become part of the Pump Foil Sport in Austria. Members not only find support here, but also the opportunity to take part in joint events and competitions to strengthen the sense of community among pumps toilers.

sustainability in water sports

A particularly important aspect of the events was the responsible handling of nature. Water sports should not only be fun, but also from the point of view of environmental friendliness and sustainability. As explained [Sportwerft] (https://www.sportwerft.de/infos/wassersport- sustainable-mundweltreislichtlich-rueck-schutz/), this not only includes sailing, surfing and kiting, but also without the production of new products. Many years of use and repair of existing products are highlighted as environmentally friendly solutions. It is necessary to promote innovative, sustainable water sports products to protect nature resources.

The successful implementation of the event series on Lake Wörthersee is a step towards a more conscious exercise of water sports with the aim of leaving an intact nature even future generations. The organizers thank all sponsors who support these projects and contribute to promoting the pump foil sport and sustainable water sports practices.
