The opening of the Arlberg Tunnel, after extensive renovation work, represents a real milestone for the transport infrastructure in Austria. With an investment volume of around 30 million euros, ASFINAG has created a new toll booth with modernized standards, which is primarily aimed at the comfort of vehicle drivers. A highlight of the innovations is the barrier-free toll lane, which allows drivers with a digital ticket or a multi-journey ticket to pass the toll without stopping. This is seen as very beneficial, particularly at peak times or during the winter months when high vehicle traffic is expected, according to department head Stefan Zangerle. If you drive through without authorization, drivers must expect a replacement toll of 120 euros.
