New work in Carinthia: 30 years of bridge for professional integration!
St. Veit an der Glan, Österreich - New work has been a central player in active labor market policy in Carinthia for 30 years and offers people in difficult phases of life an important support from qualified employment. The company has locations in St. Veit, Klagenfurt and Feldkirchen and employs around 100 people annually. These people are qualified and looked after to increase their chances of professional reintegration. New work not only acts as a contractor of the labor market service (AMS), but also works with various communities and private companies. The services offered include cleaning, green space maintenance and ironing services that enable the running costs and necessary investments.
About half of the new work employees are over 50 years old, which illustrates that the company is particularly involved in the interests of older workers. In 2024, impressive 6,814 people were employed. In 9,385 consultations there was extensive information about entry opportunities, two thirds of which actually led to a job. Despite these successes, challenges are in the foreground, especially in the permanent mediation of people who have to overcome several hurdles when looking for work.

The 30th anniversary of new work took place in St. Veit an der Glan, in which the importance of the company for social participation, integration into the labor market and the strengthening of regional purchasing power was recognized. Mayor Martin Kulmer emphasized the importance of new work for the community, especially in the care of 70 apartment blocks and green spaces. Mayor Martin Meetner of Feldkirchen also praised the long -term cooperation, which is particularly evident in the garden service and maintenance.
New work not only offers jobs, but also individually adapted social pedagogical support. This supports job seekers in returning to regulated daily structures, in dealing with everyday life as well as in qualifying and applying. Managing Director Bernhard Samitz explains that by the end of 2024 numerous people, especially over 50 years, could be employed, which underlines the company's social responsibility.
an innovative approach in labor market policy
The work of new work is in line with the goals of employment promotion, which according to the Social Code III aims to avoid unemployment and to strengthen social security. The active labor market policy includes measures that are intended to improve the ability to work and willingness to attend job seekers. The approaches of new work can be considered pioneering, since they not only promote the professional integration of the participants, but also contribute to avoiding social exclusion.
The commitment of new work shows how significantly socially economic companies are for society by creating both jobs and stabilizing the regional economic structures. These approaches are also part of the more comprehensive strategy that serve to combat unemployment and promote integration into the first labor market.
