National Council 2025: Session schedule is certain - budget 2025 and 2026 still open
The National Council's meeting dates for 2025 were determined. The five parties in the National Council have agreed on a common timetable that provides for 19 fixed plenary sessions and ten reserve days. The first session will take place on January 22nd, after two committee weeks.
However, there are still some open questions that need to be clarified. For example, it has not yet been decided when the budget 2025 will be discussed and whether there will be a double budget for 2025 and 2026. These adjustments are still made.
The agreement on the session schedule has already been confirmed in a presidential round. It remains to be seen whether there will be further changes.
For further information you can consult the parliamentary correspondence No. 1073/2024 as well as the work plan of the National Council and the specialist information of the budget service for the automatic and statutory budget provisorium.
The determination of the session timetable for the National Council is of great importance for the schedule of political work in 2025. The agreement of the five parties enables a structured procedure and ensures that important topics can be discussed in a reasonable time.
