Rent-alarm: SPÖ boss Babler is fighting for social housing in Vienna!
Austria is facing an apartment emergency, and the dispute over the rental price brake is gaining intensity. FPÖ building spokesman Michael Oberlechner has sharply criticized the measures of SPÖ Vice Chancellor and Minister of Wohnbauminister Andreas Babler and explained that BALLER had already failed today. According to Oberlechner, the rental price brake remains an illusory solution because it freezes rents at a high level instead of making them more affordable for the citizens. "This does not make a single apartment more affordable," said Oberlechner and added that rents in financed municipal apartments urgently need to be reduced in order to meet the needs of the tenants. The FPÖ politician emphasized that the governing parties apparently are more interested in their own clientele and the filled feed troughs than to meet the needs of the Austrian tenants. For this reason, Oberlechner announced parliamentary initiatives to improve the situation, such as "https://www.ots.at/presseaus-sung/ots_20250307_ots0197/fpoe-oberlechner-zu-miet-poe-Wohnbauminister-babler-ist-Hon-Heute-call"> OTS reported.
On the other hand, Babler emphasizes the urgency of creating more affordable living space in order to counteract the increase in housing costs. In one of his papers, he suggests reserving half of new building land for social housing. This measure should even be covered by constitutional determination, which has the potential to revitalize the stumbling construction industry. "The increasing housing costs are one of the main causes for record taxation in Austria," said Babler. In order to reduce the pressure on non -profit developers, he also demands increased interventions in the market and a discussion about possible measures against the after -house from building land by private investors. In the event of a scarcity, these should pass into the possession of municipalities and non -profit organizations. BABLER is already planning to have reform proposals elaborated in order to defuse the situation of what can be read on the websites of orf
