Meeus sprints to victory at the Tour de Suisse - Gall remains seventh!
Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Schweiz - Jordi Meeus from Belgium today won the sixth stage of the Tour de Suisse. The route led over 186 kilometers from Chur to Neuhausen am Rheinfall. Meeus prevailed against Davide Ballerini and Lewis Askey in the decisive sprint and thus celebrated his second win of the season. The sprint was optimally prepared by his Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe team, which allowed him to play his strength in the finish.
On the stage, an outlier trio consisting of Mauro Schmid and Stefan Küng (both Switzerland) and Harry Sweeny (Australia) reached great progress, but has been obtained in the last two kilometers. The numerous attacks during the stage, including two categorized climbs, made the competition exciting. After the race, Meeus expressed his relief about victory that was his first at WorldTour level in two years.

The overall leading Kévin Vauquelin from France kept his position and now has a lead of 2:20 minutes in the overall classification. Felix Gall, who finished the finish line with Felix Großschartner at the same time, remains seventh in the overall ranking. Gall, member of the DECATHLON-AG2R La Mondiale team, could not assert himself in the sprint, but showed a solid performance and remained in his position. Großschaftner now occupies twelfth place.

For the upcoming stages, the competition becomes even harder due to the demanding route. The seventh stage, which will take place on Saturday, extends over 207.3 kilometers and includes a four -kilometer final climb to Emmetten. In addition, a mountain time trial from Beckenried to the Stockhütte is on the program on Sunday, which will bring additional challenges for the drivers.
In the context of the entire tour, which takes place between June 11th and 18th and includes a total length of 1118.2 kilometers and over 18,000 meters of altitude, the Tour de Suisse is regarded as an important preparation for the nearby Tour de France. This exciting tour also attracts the best drivers in the world and offers spectacular competitions in cycling.
