Nordic combined athlete Johannes Lamparter showed great performances on Sunday in the last World Cup before the upcoming World Championships in Trondheim on February 27th. In Otepää, Estonia, the 23-year-old secured fifth place in the compact competition, confirming his strong ambitions for the World Championships. Although he had to admit defeat to the German Wendelin Thannheimer by just 0.1 seconds in the finish sprint, Lamparter still knew that he had given his best in a very competitive race the Crown reported.

Victory went to the German Vinzenz Geiger, who reached the finish with an impressive lead of 16 seconds over the Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber. In addition to Lamparter's success in Otepää, he recently shone in Schonach, where he took second place and achieved his best result of the season.
