Tragic incident in Villach: Chihuahua euthanized after dog bite
Last weekend a tragic incident occurred at Wasenboden in Villach. An American Staffordshire Terrier, Amstaff for short, took the opportunity to break away from his owners and attacked a walker with his three Chihuahua dogs. 57-year-old Joachim Pollanz was on his usual walk when the unforeseen scenario occurred.
The situation quickly escalated: the Amstaff raced towards Pollanz and his little companions. To protect his Chihuahuas, Pollanz immediately lifted the dogs into his arms. Despite his attempts to defend himself and his animals, the aggressive dog snapped at them. The owners of the Amstaff then approached and everything seemed to be fine again, so Pollanz was able to put one of his Chihuahuas back down.
Injuries and medical attention
Pollanz is stunned and looks for the Amstaff's owners. He told the Kleine Zeitung: “If people have backbone, they should stand by this incident and contact me.” It remains to be seen whether the owners of the aggressive dog will come forward to clarify the incident in more detail and possibly take responsibility.
This incident raises important questions about dog control, particularly potentially aggressive breeds. It is important that dog owners take good care of their animals and take measures to avoid such dangerous situations in the future.
