New cycling and sidewalks in Villach: safer on the move in the city

In Villach, significant progress in the field of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure was made. Several new walking and cycle paths were recently inaugurated, which not only increase the safety of road users, but also to promote the attractiveness of environmentally friendly means of transportation.

A central project was the expansion of the sidewalk in Drauparkstrasse. Here the area between the ring wall and Steinwenderstrasse was enlarged, so that a new, safe walking and bike path was created. In addition to the wider area, this improvement also offers a new railing that ensures additional security.

new connection in Landskron

In addition, a 300-meter-long cycle path connection between Adlerstrasse and Dr.-Karl-Renner-Straße was successfully implemented in Landskron. This is intended to further improve the existing cycle path network in Villach.

optimization in the genot avenue

In the city center of Villach, a walking and cycle path in the GenottedAllee at F.-X-Wirth-Straße was also expanded. This measure optimizes the flow of traffic, in that cyclists and pedestrians now only have to cross the street again, which significantly lowers the risk of accidents.

A total of around 230,000 euros were invested for these projects. These measures are part of a more comprehensive approach to promoting sustainable traffic in the city. In addition to the new cycling and sidewalks, the covering on Italian Straße was also renovated and a 100 meter long walking and cycle path in Werner-Kofler-Straße was also completed.
