New day care center in Villach: A step towards inclusion for people with disabilities

On November 6, 2024, the new day care center in Maxpalais in Villach opened its doors with the meaningful motto "Right in the middle instead of just being there". This facility, which was created especially for people with disabilities, is intended to offer clients a structured and meaningful daily design. At the opening, in addition to Kerstin Tributsch, the managing director of autark, Andreas Jesse, and the equal opportunities officer of the State of Carinthia, Beate Prettner, were present.

The state of Carinthia has approved the day care center and promotes care for up to twelve people through self -sufficient with over half a million euros annually. "This investment is not only financial in nature, but goes deeper; it is a question of quality of life and self -esteem for the people who are looked after here," said Beate Prettner during the opening address. Despite a general austerity policy of the country, she assured that future projects to promote equal opportunities, especially for people with disabilities, should continue to be implemented.

Andreas Jesse, the managing director of autark, explained that the new offers always aim at normalization, self -determination and social participation. In the new day care center, people with different support needs are to be looked after in a pleasant environment. Jesse emphasizes that the past two decades have brought many improvements in living conditions and inclusion for people with disabilities who are now continued in this day care center.

Villach's mayor and social officer, Gerda Sandriesser, underlined the importance of the project for the city: “The partnership between self -sufficient and Villach is a history of success. It is great that we now also have a day care center in the middle of the city that supports people on their way to professional and social inclusion."
