Carinthia relies on green electricity: Start PV parking space roofs!

In October 2022, the state of Carinthia took an important step towards renewable energies with the call to promote photovoltaic parking space roofs. The Energy Councilor Sebastian Schuschnig from the ÖVP emphasizes that already sealed and used areas offer great potential in order to promote the expansion of sustainable energies. In this context, a total of 21 outstanding projects were selected and supported with around 1.6 million euros.

An outstanding example has now been implemented at the parking lot of the Humanomed private clinic in Villach. The newly installed photovoltaic roof received funding of 100,000 euros. In 2018, the private clinic Villach began expanding the photovoltaic system, which equipped the entire roof area with zonnepanels. With the new roofing of the parking spaces, this project is now fully realized. According to Markus Haring, the head of technology and construction of the Humanomed, the new PV system of carports will produce around 111,386 kWh annually, which corresponds to CO₂ savings of around 77,000 kg per year.
