Young talents design Gircoli sculpture in the new Villach roundabout

A new accent is set in Villach: A unique work of art is now rising in the newly designed roundabout on Italian Strasse. This sculpture, which is reminiscent of the wooden trophy of the Bruno Gircoli Promotion Award, was manufactured in collaboration with the KMF apprentice academy and the HTL Villach. The concise design brings new life into the city entrance and convinces with impressive playing of light and shadow.

Already when the artwork was created, the participation of young talents was used. Mayor Günther Albel emphasized the value of this cooperation: "The city of Villach has brought young, strong and committed partners on board for the implementation." The students of the HTL Villach not only applied theoretical knowledge, but also contributed practically to implementation by creating the foundation for the impressive six meter high and 20 tons of corten steel sculpture. This close cooperation between the city, art and education emphasizes the quality of the Villach training location.

a successful collaboration

Particular attention is paid to the symbiosis between art and craft. Oliver Zlamal, CEO of the KMF machine factories, emphasized: "The project represents the connection of the four participating stakehold city, art, education and economy in a previously unique symbiosis." The Gircoli trophy was revised by a KMF engineering team so that the sculpture in Corten steel could be manufactured. The apprentices of the KMF apprentice academy took over the challenge of combining the elements into a stable and sustainable construction.

Peter Kusstatscher, director of the HTL Villach, added that the realization of the work of art designed by the school was both a challenge and an honor. The support of the city and the KMF made it possible to design art in public space and thus also strengthen part of Villach's identity. This initiative not only stands for creative diversity, but also shows the practical skills of the young people.

With the completion of the sculpture, the roundabout on Italian Straße is not only a functional traffic island, but also a testimony to the creative cooperation between youth and established institutions. This redesign is impressively impressed by visitors and locals and contributes to Villach's visual attraction.
