This year the “Kärnten radelt” initiative was successfully carried out again, and St. Georgen am Längensee was part of it. The committed community took part with 16 participants and cycled a total of an astonishing 17,916.86 kilometers. Not only does this express community spirit, but it also has a positive impact on the environment.

St. Georgen achieved a respectable third place among 26 communities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. At the top of the hardest-working cyclists is Josef Grojer, who covered an impressive 5,530.31 kilometers. He is followed by Gebhard Höfferer and Gerhard Unger with 3,165.21 and 3,002.00 kilometers. Mayor Wolfgang Grilz honored the three best cyclists with gifts and praised their commitment.

Environmental protection and healthy lifestyle

Cycling not only has sporting aspects, but also an important environmentally friendly component. Through the total number of kilometers cycled, the community saved 3,160.53 kilograms of CO2. In addition, 533,635.76 kilocalories were burned, contributing to a healthier lifestyle.

From a financial perspective, the effort also pays off: the costs saved by cycling amount to 6,181.32 euros. These numbers illustrate how both personal health and environmental protection can go hand in hand. There are also more cycling activities on the program for next year. St. Georgen hopes to continue collecting many cycling minutes, because every single kilometer counts.

The tradition of cycling in the community shows how important it is to be active while making a contribution to the environment. The results of this initiative were recently from www.meinkreis.at published, which underlines the commitment and successes of the initiative's participants. The anticipation of the upcoming activities is already noticeable, as the initial euphoria remains unbroken.
