Young people shape the future: Carinthian climate summit in St. Veit
In the city of St. Veit, the fourth climate summit of Carinthian students took place in the town hall on Wednesday, which was organized entirely by young people. The event served as a platform for students from four schools to present their climate protection projects and theses. Various films were presented that discussed innovative ideas for tackling the climate crisis.
The organization of the summit was no coincidence: the young people play an active role in the “Climate Neutral St. Veit 2040” initiative. Mayor Martin Kulmer explained that concrete measures to promote climate neutrality are already being implemented in St. Veit, while there is a global discussion. This shows how exemplary local implementation is being strengthened and underlines the importance of including young voices in decisions.
Commitment and motivation
During the summit, State Councilor Sara Schaar praised the young people's commitment and emphasized that climate protection is a joint effort by everyone. She made it clear to the participants that their commitment and ideas are of great importance for a sustainable future. City councilor Walter Brunner also emphasized how important it is to promote the inventiveness and drive of the younger generation.
The event represents a strong signal of youth's sense of responsibility regarding environmental issues. The enthusiasm that the young people showed when presenting their projects brings a breath of fresh air to the topic of climate protection and makes it clear that the next generation is ready to actively work on solutions to pressing challenges.
