Young people shape the future: Carinthian climate summit in St. Veit
In the city of St. Veit, the fourth climate summit of the Carinthian students took place in the town hall on Wednesday, which was organized entirely by young people. The event served as a platform for students from four schools to present their climate protection projects and diploma theses. Different films were presented that addressed innovative ideas for coping with the climate crisis.
The organization of the summit was no coincidence: the young people play an active role in the "Climate -neutral St. Veit 2040" initiative. Mayor Martin Kulmer explained that in St. Veit, specific measures to promote climate neutrality are already being implemented while discussing globally. This shows how exemplary the local implementation is strengthened and underlines the importance of involving the young voices in decisions.
commitment and motivation
The State Councilor Sara Schaar paid tribute to the youngsters' commitment during the summit and emphasized that climate protection is a common effort for everyone. It gave the participants to understand that their commitment and ideas are of great importance for a sustainable future. City Councilor Walter Brunner also emphasized how important it is to promote the wealth of ideas and the act of action of the younger generation.
The event represents a strong sign of the awareness of youth in terms of environmental issues. The enthusiasm that the young people showed when presenting their projects brings a breath of fresh air to the topic of climate protection and illustrates that the next generation is willing to actively work on solutions for pressing challenges.
