HLW Spittal explores Red Bull's media studios in Salzburg

At HLW Spittal, education is not only taught, but also experienced in a lively manner. On Friday, October 25, 2024, fifty HLW-MEDIA students used their lessons to visit the renowned Red Bull Media House in Salzburg. This excursion offers young people the opportunity to gain practical insights into the media world and deepen their knowledge in the area of media production.

The Red Bull Media House, known as one of the main centers for Austrian media production, is located right next to one of the country's most famous stadiums. On this fascinating tour of the various production facilities, the students were able to experience the modern facilities that are necessary for working in the media sector. Among other things, they visited the rooms for video editing and color grading, the recording studios and areas for sound editing. The students were impressed to see live how the employees worked on current projects and created creative content for platforms such as Servus-TV and their YouTube channel.

Impressive technical possibilities

Particularly captivating was the large television studio that was preparing to cover the US presidential election. Here the students experienced first-hand the preparation for a big live broadcast. Digital US flags were projected on oversized LED walls, and the state-of-the-art cameras and teleprompters captured the attention of budding media professionals. Not to forget the impressive equipment of the news studio where the moderators create their reports.

Another highlight was the control room, where almost twenty people worked tirelessly to select the best images from different camera perspectives and present them to the audience. For the students, this organization and technical commitment were clear evidence of the professionalism behind such productions.

After the exciting visit to the Media House, the group went to Hangar 7, not far from Salzburg Airport. Here visitors can expect an impressive collection of airplanes, racing cars and motorcycles, all of which belong to the Red Bull world. The Hangar is also home to one of the best restaurants in the country and regularly hosts panel discussions that are broadcast on television. The combination of technology, cuisine and media presence added another fascinating accent to the day.

The students were visibly enthusiastic about the modern facilities and the perfect organization. The friendliness and competence of the staff helped make this day unforgettable. These experiences could not only be inspiration for a possible career at Red Bull, but in the entire media industry. Her training at HLW Spittal prepares her optimally for future careers in this dynamic environment.

The excursion offered the students a unique opportunity to gain insights into Austria's media landscape and could act as an impetus for new professional perspectives. Such practical experiences are an essential part of training at HLW, where diversity and practical orientation are the focus.
