Refurbishment of a picture stick in Nötsch: Conservation of folk culture in focus!
An important cultural heritage in the municipality of Lower Austria in the Gailtal is currently being revitalized: A historic picture stick in Glabatschach receives urgently needed renovation work. This initiative is supported by the Small project promotion of the State of Carinthia, which aims to provide as unbureaucratic and quick financial aid for regional projects as possible, such as ktn.gv.at reported. The hobby artist Johannes Stichaller has taken over the renovation of the picture stick and thus shows his commitment to the preservation of the most important cultural assets in Carinthia.
The picture stick that is getting on in years has already received a new roof. Now the painting work and repairs follow to redesign the square into a place of prayer and lingering. "In Kärnten, picture sticks are an important folk culture that needs to be preserved," emphasized LHStV. Martin Gruber, who was on site to personally present the funding commitment to Mayor Alfred Altersberger. The total costs of the revitalization amount to over 6,300 euros, the funding amount is 3,800 euros. Stichaller receives active support from a neighboring family and a committed student, which further strengthens the community spirit in the region, as the small project funding, which has been active since the end of 2018 and has already approved 90 projects by 2020, with a funding volume of almost 580,000 euros.
