New competition for creative business ideas started in Althofen!

The municipality of Althofen has announced the launch of a new pop-up store competition aimed at innovative business ideas to further revitalize the city center. Following the success of previous competitions, micro, small and medium-sized businesses as well as founders should be encouraged to submit their creative concepts. The best three ideas will receive 1,800 euros each, while the Carinthian Economic Development Fund (KWF) will offer support of up to 10,500 euros for a whole year if they are successfully implemented. The application deadline is March 7, 2025, and business consultant Ed Wohlfahrt will be available to advise participants on how to submit their business plans Click Carinthia reported.

Financial stability and upcoming projects

At the last Althofen municipal council meeting, pleasing financial results were presented. The 2021 financial statements show a surplus of 1,464,000 euros, and the city has set aside reserves of one million euros. This positive balance enables the municipality to implement ongoing projects in the coming year, with a budget of over 24 million euros. This unprecedented budget reflects the scope of the planned projects, as Mayor Walter Zemrosser and Finance Officer Michael Baumgartner emphasize. Among the projects is the redesign of the main square, which will begin construction work by the end of May with orders worth two million euros My district reported.

The city is also planning to convert to digital water meters, which will in future transmit the meter readings directly to the town hall. This measure shows the municipality's commitment to modern solutions and maintaining a solid financial basis, which is also reflected in the allocation of land for the inter-communal allotment settlement.
