The Way of the Cross is important for the local community and is a lasting sign of memory that is deeply rooted in Carinthia. Developed as a symbolic path to be able to understand the suffering of Jesus, the Way of the Cross includes 14 stations that illustrate the last trip of Jesus. Traditionally, these stations, which range from conviction to the burial, are visited by believers in a prayer, especially during Lent. The individual stations invite you to think about pain and resurrection and are therefore at the center of traditional religious practices, as can also be found in many Catholic churches, such as vivat.de explained.
The crosses, murals and sculptures along the way enable the pilgrims to experience the trip intensively and to deal with the historical and spiritual aspects of the passion of Jesus. This tradition, which impresses with its realization, still remains a central component of church life and the community identity in Carinthia and beyond.
