Final trip to Istria: An unforgettable experience for seniors

The participants were housed in a comfortable 4-star hotel, the Hedera Maslinica resort. On the arrival afternoon, the guests had the opportunity to take a long walk to a nearby waterfall or along the picturesque promenade of Rabac. The evening was sociable and was accompanied by music and dance so that those present could get to know each other better.

The day after the arrival brought bright sunshine and an exciting bus ride along the eastern coastal road in Istria to Opatija, led by the experienced tour guide Branka and Milo. They told captivating stories about the region and at the same time disabled the remarkable view of the Kvarner Bay and the diverse historical sites along the journey, including the towns of Lovran, Ika and Ičiči.

Opatija, also known as Abbazia or Sankt Jakobi, delighted the group with its long history and impressive sights, such as the famous Franz-Josef promenade. The city was a popular destination for spa guests for many years, and the elegance of the 19th century is still noticeable today.

Visit to the Konoba Bani

The next stage of the trip led the group to the Farm Konoba Bani, which is idyllically in the middle of Istria. Here the guests were received with the sonorous vocals and beautiful traditional drinks. The atmosphere was lively when the 200 attendees enjoyed the warm hospitality in the festively laid hall. The waitresses dressed out of costume ensured that nothing was missing from the guests.

The gala evening was the highlight of the trip, lovingly organized by the hotel staff. The ballroom shone in festive white and was decorated with light effects. David Danijel, a talented musician and entertainer, led through the evening, accompanied the guests with his music and created an unforgettable atmosphere. After a delicious dinner, those present enjoyed the stirring music that stimulated the dancing until late at night.

The return trip for the different local groups was organized individually. The Klagenfurter, St. Kanzian and Völkermarkter participants opted for lunch together in the Nibi’s restaurant in Vrhinka. The excursion ended in a happy and sociable round, which underlines the connection of the pensioner association.
