Young People's Party enthusiastic: 84 % of the districts at Mission 100!
The young People's Party (JVP) started one of the greatest participation processes in its history a month ago with the "Mission 100". According to ots.at, committed supporters from 84 percent of all Austrian districts have already entered with over 520 people who want to be active. Over 30 tour stops have already taken place across the country, which significantly underlines the high motivation and interest in this project.
Federal Chair Claudia Plakolm emphasizes the enthusiasm of young people for politics and emphasizes the need to offer them opportunities for participation. Deputy Secretary General Toni Grünsteidl, who works as a campaign coordinator, continues to keep an eye on the bid of our age: The JVP would like to define 100 milestones up to its 100th birthday in order to make the concerns of the youth visible and to invite everyone to get involved regardless of a membership.

Democracy perception among young people
The motivation to participate in initiatives such as "Mission 100" could also be related to the latest findings on political attitudes among young people in Austria. An additional survey on democracy Monitor 2024 shows that around 90 % of young people see democracy as the best form of government, but only 44 % believe that the political system in Austria works well. This discrepancy shows a perceived "representation gap" and a loss of trust in political institutions.
These results were collected as part of a work on political developments and reveal a decrease in trust in the federal government, from 51 % in 2020 to 39 % in 2024, while trust in parliament remains stable at around 45 %. 96 % of the respondents use more than an information channel for political issues, with 66 % information about social media at least once a week. These observations illustrate the need for action in political education, especially with regard to the promotion of political debates.
The "Mission 100" is viewed by the JVP as a step to strengthen the political engagement of young people in order to better put their concerns and needs at the center of the political agenda. The long -term goal is to actively invite young people to shape their political environment.
