Horror in Indonesia: Giant snake devours man alive!
A frightening incident in Indonesia has once again brought the dangers of large pythons into focus. A 61-year-old man was devoured by an 8.5-meter-long python while feeding his chickens in Southeast Sulawesi province. According to Kosmo, the snake first grabbed his leg, crushed him to death, and then swallowed him whole.
After the man did not return home, his relatives alerted the authorities. A search operation was launched after his motorcycle was found abandoned on the side of the road. Villagers later discovered the python with its body unnaturally bloated near a garden shed. They opened the snake's body and found the man's lifeless body, which was then handed over to his family.
Deadly encounters with pythons
Although fatal attacks by giant snakes on humans are rare in Indonesia, there have been documented cases in recent years. Experts emphasize that humans are not part of the pythons' natural prey pattern. Nevertheless, such attacks, usually in densely vegetated areas, can be triggered by unfortunate encounters. Local authorities advise caution in regions with dense vegetation and tall grass. This is also confirmed by another incident that was recently reported.
In a separate case, a 45-year-old multiple, Farida, was found dead in the stomach of a five-meter-long reticulated python in Kalempang, South Sulawesi. She had been missing since Thursday evening. Her husband and villagers launched a search operation that eventually led to the discovery of the snake. As Stern reports, the villagers found the python with a bloated stomach and then cut open the stomach, where they discovered the missing person's head. This shows how quickly such terrible incidents can happen.
Reticulated pythons typically feed on smaller animals and birds and rarely attack humans. Nevertheless, there have been several documented python deaths in Indonesia in recent years. Last year, villagers became aware of an eight-meter-long python that had devoured a farmer. In the past, people have been found dead in the stomachs of pythons, such as a 54-year-old woman in 2018 and a man in 2017.
Increase in dangerous encounters
Another alarming incident occurred when a 63-year-old imam was attacked by a python more than five meters long in Polewali Mandar. He was collecting wood with his son and relatives when the snake suddenly struck and bit him on the leg. However, the Imam managed to free himself and killed the snake with a machete after it attacked him. According to Kurier, such attacks have not become uncommon in Indonesia in recent years, especially in the country's dense forests, which are home to many large snake species. Conservationists warn that dangerous encounters with these animals could increase as their habitat disappears due to deforestation.
Such tragic incidents emphasize the importance of education and precautionary measures to avoid further encounters with these impressive yet dangerous creatures.
